Microphone Not Working

If Scope isn't detecting your microphone or audio isn't being captured, follow these steps to resolve the issue.

Check Browser Permissions

Chrome / Edge

  1. Click the lock icon in the address bar
  2. Find Microphone in the list
  3. Set it to Allow
  4. Refresh the page

Firefox

  1. Click the lock icon in the address bar
  2. Click More Information
  3. Go to the Permissions tab
  4. Find Use the Microphone and select Allow
  5. Refresh the page

Safari

  1. Go to Safari > Settings > Websites > Microphone
  2. Find the Scope Health site and set to Allow
  3. Refresh the page

Check System Settings

macOS

  1. Open System Settings > Sound > Input
  2. Verify your microphone is listed and selected
  3. Check that input levels respond when you speak
  4. Also check System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone
  5. Ensure your browser has permission to use the microphone

Windows

  1. Open Settings > System > Sound > Input
  2. Select your microphone from the list
  3. Test that input levels respond when you speak
  4. Check Settings > Privacy > Microphone
  5. Ensure "Allow apps to access your microphone" is enabled

Quick Fixes

  • Refresh the page: Press Cmd+Shift+R (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows)
  • Try incognito mode: Opens a fresh session with no cached permissions
  • Try a different browser: Test with Chrome, Firefox, or Safari
  • Check your microphone hardware: Try a different microphone if available
