Microphone Not Working
If Scope isn't detecting your microphone or audio isn't being captured, follow these steps to resolve the issue.
Check Browser Permissions
Chrome / Edge
- Click the lock icon in the address bar
- Find Microphone in the list
- Set it to Allow
- Refresh the page
Firefox
- Click the lock icon in the address bar
- Click More Information
- Go to the Permissions tab
- Find Use the Microphone and select Allow
- Refresh the page
Safari
- Go to Safari > Settings > Websites > Microphone
- Find the Scope Health site and set to Allow
- Refresh the page
Check System Settings
macOS
- Open System Settings > Sound > Input
- Verify your microphone is listed and selected
- Check that input levels respond when you speak
- Also check System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone
- Ensure your browser has permission to use the microphone
Windows
- Open Settings > System > Sound > Input
- Select your microphone from the list
- Test that input levels respond when you speak
- Check Settings > Privacy > Microphone
- Ensure "Allow apps to access your microphone" is enabled
Quick Fixes
- Refresh the page: Press Cmd+Shift+R (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows)
- Try incognito mode: Opens a fresh session with no cached permissions
- Try a different browser: Test with Chrome, Firefox, or Safari
- Check your microphone hardware: Try a different microphone if available
