Creating & Customizing Templates
Custom templates allow you to standardize your documentation and streamline your workflow. Scope offers three ways to create templates.
Accessing the Template Library
- Navigate to the sidebar on the left side of the application
- Click on the Templates tab
- You will see a list of your current templates (e.g., SOAP Note, Referral Letter, Family Medicine Note)
Creating a New Template
Click the + New Template button in the top right corner. Scope offers three methods:
1. Generate with AI
Describe the type of documentation you need, and Scope will create it for you.
- Select Generate with AI from the "New Template" menu
- Describe the template you need (e.g., "Create a SOAP note template for a dermatologist")
- Click Generate
- Scope will create a structured template with appropriate sections
2. Create from Existing Notes
Paste up to 5 examples of your previous notes, and Scope will analyze them to create a reusable template that matches your style.
- Select Create from Existing Notes
- Paste examples of notes you've written before
- Scope analyzes your writing style and structure
- A template is generated that captures your documentation preferences
3. Create from Scratch
Build your template manually using the text editor for complete control.
- Select Create from Scratch
- Use the editor to add sections, headers, and placeholder text
- Format using markdown for headers, lists, and emphasis
Editing and Saving Templates
Once your template is created, you can refine it:
- Edit the Title: Click the title field to rename your template
- Refine Sections: Add, remove, or modify sections as needed
- Add Instructions: Include bracketed placeholders like [Patient name] that guide note generation
- Save: Click Save in the top right corner
Setting a Default Template
Click Set as Default on any template to make it your primary template for new visits. This template will be pre-selected whenever you start a new visit.
