How Do I Use Scope?

This guide walks you through the core workflow: selecting a template, recording a visit, using AI to edit your documentation, and exporting the final note to your EMR.

1. Start a New Visit

On desktop:

  1. Click "Home" in the sidebar or the blue "New" button in the top-left
  2. Select a template from the dropdown menu
  3. Click "Record visit" to start recording, or "Pre-chart" to go straight to editing

On mobile:

  1. Tap the Home tab at the bottom of the screen
  2. Tap "New Visit" in the bottom right corner
  3. Select your template and tap "Record visit" to begin

2. Record the Patient Encounter

Scope can capture audio from a live patient conversation or a direct dictation.

  1. Click the Record visit button to begin
  2. Conduct your visit or dictate your findings naturally
  3. When finished, click the Stop button
  4. Scope will automatically transcribe the audio and generate a structured note

Tip: Don't worry about "perfect" speaking. The AI is designed to filter out small talk and organize clinical data automatically.

3. Edit and Refine with AI

Once the note is generated, you can make manual edits or use Scope's AI commands to refine the content instantly.

Using "Ask Scope" for Edits:

  1. Look for the "Ask Scope to do anything..." chat box
  2. Type a command to adjust the note (e.g., "Add more clinical justifications to the plan")
  3. Press Enter and Scope will apply your changes

After Scope processes the edit, changes appear in green (additions) or red (deletions). Click Accept to finalize the changes.

4. Finalize and Export

Once your note is complete, you have several options to move the data into your EMR:

  • Copy to Clipboard: Click Copy text to copy the entire formatted note
  • Share via Email: Click Share and select Send as email
  • Download PDF: Click Share and select Export as PDF

You can also assign a patient to the visit by clicking the Select patient... dropdown at the top of the screen.
